Trichology Consultation Process

Some examples of the types of questions normally asked to help me diagnose the problem and recommend appropriate treatment are as follows which I hope you find helpful:

- Timeline of your hair loss. When did it start and how has it progressed? What have you used so far to attempt to resolve it?

- General Health. Medical history, medications you are currently taking/being treated for?

- Unusual Health Symptoms. What are you not being treated for? For example tiredness, palpitations, dizziness

- Recent Health Changes. In the last six months and short term illness, viruses, surgery or accidents?

- Supplements. Any vitamins, minerals, herbal remedies being taken?

- Diet. What is your diet like? How often, any special eating plan, weight loss or food exclusion plan?

- Digestion. Any bloating, wind, indigestion, IBS or constipation?

- Family History. Genetic links or any other family members been affected by the same condition?

- Nails. Weak, pitted, ridged, white spots?

- Stress. Major incidences or chronic stress during the time period that is relevant to the condition?

- Blood Tests. It is really important to bring a copy of any recent blood tests with you even if they are normal. This is most relevant in hair loss complaints.

- Hair Analysis. A detailed microscopic hair analysis is undertaken to help confirm a diagnosis.

- Diagnosis. By the end of the majority of hair loss consultations, I will be able to explain about the hair loss or scalp condition you are suffering from and what in the balance of probability has caused it.
